Barcelona Bridal Week, which kicks off on the 10th with a Rosa Clará fashion show, will be the best in its 21-year history, according to the event’s director, Alex Flaqué, who told Efe that he believes that the internationalization that began 15 years ago has saved from the crisis and has consolidated it as the best in the world.
Flaqué recalled that 40% of the 240 exhibitors participating this year in the Noviaespaña International Show, which is 2% more than in the last edition, are foreigners.
He affirms that another reason that has caused the crisis to pass aside in this sector is that, thanks to this internationalization, when buyers and exhibitors have had to choose in Europe which fair they went to, Barcelona has never been replaced by another place because it was the first in the international calendar to present the collections, and consolidate itself as the most important in the world.
Alex Flaqué assures that Barcelona is the first fair in the world for bridal gowns, party dresses and cocktails in the medium, medium high and high segment, above Milan (Italy) and the bridal fair in Harrogate, in Great Britain, and that the magazines of the sector are nourished by the collections that are presented here.
This edition also highlighted the great commitment that the Catalan designer Rosa Clará has made for this event, by contracting a large space that these days will become the convention center of the firm and the other brands that the Clará group has.

- This year, more than 14,000 buyers from 50 countries are expected to attend Barcelona Bridal Week (BBW), and 60% of the visitors will be foreigners, with Italians, who account for 35%, being the most numerous, followed by the French, Germans, Russians and Portuguese.
- He has also highlighted the importance of the Gaudi Novias Catwalk, which is also part of the BBW and which this year has scheduled 27 catwalk shows between May 9 and 13, a calendar that this edition will close as usual for the Pronovias firm.
- Some of the most important models in the world of fashion such as Amanda Haerts, Katerina Strygina or Irina Shayk will parade on the catwalk dressed as bridal, white and radiant.. In this year’s calendar, in addition to Clará and Pronovias, there is Jesús del Pozo; Jesus Peiro; Victorio & Lucchino; Yolan Chris; Immaculate Garcia; Frans Bavaria; Piedad Rodriguez; Teresa Ripoll; Elisabeth Barboza by Pronuptia Paris and Raimon Bundó.
- The proposals of Franc Sarabia will also parade on the catwalk; Francis Montesinos; Manu Alvarez; Jordi Dalmau; Matilde Cano; Lee Seungjin; Bride d’Art; Patricia Avendano; Cabotine by Gema Nicolás; Cymbeline; Fuentecapala; Rafaello; Sonia Pena; Ana Torres and Carla Ruiz.
